"I crawled in the mud, but i never gave up!.." That's the kind of feeling i'm feeling towards this blog. I promised a lot, but due to many time contraints never posted since december '06. This is going to be my first post in '07! Many to follow (I promise, I pledge to my soul...) , and since i joined an international music blog collective (Developed Brains) i will post both here and there.
To Listen:
Ted Leo and The Pharmacists- Rappaport's Testament/I Never Gave Up
Really exciting song by a good, and amazing live band. From The "Living with the Living" Bonus CD "Mo' Living"
Los Campesinos!- We Throw Parties, You Throw Knives!
Fine Little indie-band from Cardiff
Voxtrot- Firecracker
Song from the new album 'Voxtrot', a real rocker of a song for them.
Ghost Fleet- For What It's Worth
Exciting new sensation, and all that crap. For what it's worth it's a killer of a song from a band from Leeds. Also included on the new Dance To The Radio compilation "Something I Learned Today".
Hey you geezas,
Vacation was swell. But alas, it has come to an end. It was a summer full of music i'd say. With Lily Allen scoring an obvious summerhit and the flute-driven song of Peter, Bjorn and John still buzzin round my head, music being boomed right off the net, it was one hot summer! This year this blog will be bustin you with the newest, weirdest en neatest new music. Whether it's britpop, dance or punk you can ride this wave with me. I'll show you the way.
For the restart of my blog here are some songs i picked up in the time was away:
Mocky- Extended Vacation ('Navy Brown Blues', 2006) site
On Lowlands Festival went to check out Mocky and he was very weird. In a good way. Dressed up like a clown, acts like a clown. Can't really sing and can't really rap, but speaks over the band driven music. This song was a real party back there. He called this their 'Las Vegas Show'-tune and still beats the hell out of me. (Pop)
The Sunshine Underground- I Ain't Losing Any Sleep ('Raise The Alarm', 2006) site
I Remember checking them out on London Calling Festival last year and i was really psyched about them. There's an album now and i'm not really crazy about it but this song i remember from their show and it's a good one. (Dance/Punk)
Captain- Broke ('This Is Hazelville', 2006) site
This was already a single from the forthcoming album. But it's really a standout on their album check it out! (Britpop)
Larrikin Love- Downing St. Kindling ('The Freedom Spark, 2006) site
Another british act from last years London Calling Festival. Really energetic mix of ska, britpop and folk. A protest song about ditching England.
